Out On Bay Street is committed to recognizing excellence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) student community across Canada as an opportunity to help students excel in their career. To support this commitment, Out On Bay Street awards two scholarships each year to successful student leaders with bright futures contributing to LGBTQ communities. Scholarship candidates are highlighted as role models for Out On Bay Street’s student network.

The award recipients will be highlighted at our Annual Conference so as to share their achievements with their network, Out On Bay Street’s student network and members of the LGBTQ and Ally community.

DESCRIPTION OF THE AWARDS:

2 awards will be awarded at $2,500 each.

The 2016 OOBS Student Leadership Scholarships are available to LGBTQ post-secondary students who have completed at least one year of studies in an accredited Canadian postsecondary program of study. Recipients must:

  • Exemplify leadership, especially within the LGBTQ communities
  • Demonstrate personal and/or academic success
  • Clearly articulate plans for future involvement in the LGBTQ communities and career or academic goals in application

The recipients will be selected by an independent committee of professionals from the Canadian community, with the final approval to be made by the Out On Bay Street Board of Directors. Recipients will be formally recognized in Toronto between Thursday, September 15, 2016 and Saturday, September 17, 2016, the final details of which will be communicated directly to the recipients.
