On Thurs., Feb. 9, “Passion Points: Analytics in the Sports, Media and Entertainment Industries” will shed light onto this fascinating and emerging area of business.

Made famous by the film Moneyball, analytics showcased a unique data-driven approach to assessing player talent and ultimately producing a winning product. Data analytics have since advanced beyond the playing field to transform the business operations of companies in many industries. The sports, media and entertainment industries are no exception! From marketing and finance to HR and procurement, organisations in the creative industries are leveraging the power of “big data” to generate insights that are optimizing operations, building stronger customer relationships, creating new products/services and maximizing revenue streams – all in real time!

Passion Points: Analytics in the Sports, Media and Entertainment Industries, is the latest event in the Industry Leader Speaker Series presented by Schulich Sport Business Association (SSBA) and York Sport Business Association (YSBA). Frank Wheeler, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the Sport and Entertainment North America division of German software giant SAP will be the keynote speaker, sharing his insights into this fascinating topic and the complementary role of new technology. Following the keynote, Murat Kristal, Program Director of Schulich’s Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) program, will lead a panel discussion on best practices, trends and issues with industry leaders from Cineplex Entertainment, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Nielsen and Vision Critical.
