Are you worried that your life at Schulich is going to be full of school work with little or no time for fun?
If your answer was “Yes” you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The proof is in these pictures…
These photos are but a glimpse of what’s to come at the year’s most awaited student event organized by your GBC: SCHULYPMPICS.
What Is Schulympics?
Don’t let the name misguide you. Schulympics is anything but a sporting event.
Every fall, Schulich graduate students take over Camp Timberlane in the picturesque region of Haliburton, Ontario. What follows is two days of pure fun, free of textbooks, business clothing and syllabi. Instead you’ll experience late-night bonfires, roasted marshmallows, acoustic guitar covers, lake swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing and dancing to one of the best DJs in town.
Schulympics is a great way to relax by removing yourself from both an academic environment and the city. If you need any more convincing, I should mention the breathtakingly gorgeous view. Late September is the time when the maple trees start to change colour against the backdrop of blue skies and atop the pristine water of the Two-Islands Lake. Here’s the fantastic result of this most amazing combination:
The list of offerings at Schulympics is way too long for me to write about here and words can’t do the experience justice anyway. But let it suffice to say that you won’t hear the end of how absolutely enjoyable this weekend was for the rest of the year.
So don’t be one of those who missed the event and live to regret it!
