Last week the division of Student Services and International Relations honoured student volunteers who participated in the Graduate Ambassador Program throughout the academic year.
Master of Management candidate Michael Zanella was named Outstanding Graduate Ambassador, winning a $500 award and a certificate signed by the Dean in recognition of his exemplary contributions to the Schulich community.
Graduate Ambassadors are a select group of current student leaders who share their passion for being a Schulich student with the community. Their duties include recruitment support, assisting with orientation events, and connecting 1-on-1 with prospective and incoming students.
“The Graduate Ambassador Program is a fun way to give back to an awesome community.”
Michael has been one of the program’s most active, collegial and engaged volunteers. He has participated in program webinars, acted as a warm and informative tour guide to guests visiting the school, and participated as a student panelist at Experience Schulich in March.
For Michael, giving so freely of his time has been a natural and rewarding part of his life at Schulich.
“The decision to find time and be a part of this program was very easy for me, even amid my Masters curriculum,” he says. “The executive ambassador team is great at helping you build a flexible schedule of volunteer initiatives.”
Student ambassadors have an important job; they work to uphold the reputation of the school and to meaningfully impact a student’s decision to apply for, or accept an offer of admission to Schulich.
Michael says the effort is well worth it.
“Not only does the graduate ambassador program offer a fun way to interact and give back to an awesome community, it’s a unique opportunity to network and build your soft skills that will be needed in the real world of employment.”
Also honoured at the appreciation event were ambassadors Allie Simpson (MBA candidate), Kevin Loi (MMgt candidate) and Clarissa (IMBA candidate) for their outstanding involvement in the program during the Fall/Winter terms.
