Hello incoming students:
The start of term is around the corner! You may be wondering (or worrying) about getting to, from and around campus.
Below is some helpful information about the many transit options available to you at the Keele campus and throughout the city of Toronto.
Taking the “TTC”: Toronto’s Public Transit System
New to Toronto, Canada?
The Toronto Transit Commission (called the “TTC”) is the public agency that operates bus, subway train, streetcar, and para-transit services in the city of Toronto. For students and many residents, “taking the TTC” is the most convenient, and accessible way to travel throughout the city, and to campus. There are several ways to pay your fare. One option is to purchase a monthly pass called a TTC Metropass.
TTC Subway Line 1
You can take Line 1: Yonge-University-Spadina directly to York University station, located across from the Schulich building.
You can also check out the TTC’s Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) website for additional details about the extension, including commuter parking lots.
GO Transit
GO Transit is a regional public transit system in Southern Ontario, Canada, servicing areas that are more remote to Schulich’s Keele Campus in Toronto. York University students can apply online for a GO Transit Student ID Card. Please note that this GO Transit Student ID Card is only available for full time enrolled and registered students. In the application you will be provided with the following options:
- Have the card mailed
- Pick it up from the Parking & Transportation Office at the William Small Centre
To apply for your GO Transit Student Identification Card, please click here.
All York University bound GO Transit buses will terminate at Highway 407 Station located at Jane Street and highway 407.
For the most up-to-date information on service changes, or to plan your trip, please visit GO Transit .
If you have questions, please visit the York Transportation Services FAQ page; if your questions are not addressed in the FAQs, please call 416-736-5335 or e-mail transit@yorku.ca.
Parking at York University
Students can purchase a parking permit though Parking Services in the William Small Centre. The cost of parking varies depending on the lot you choose to park in. Complete details about this are available here: http://www.yorku.ca/parking/permits.html
Construction on Campus
Often the campus undergoes construction projects, which may result in delays and route changes. Check the Keele Interactive Map for details.
GoSafe & the Village Shuttle
GoSafe is a safety service available to faculty, staff, and students free of charge. By request, this service will walk you from one point on the campus to another. GoSafe operates during the evenings, usually after 6:00pm. More information is available on their website: http://www.yorku.ca/gosafe/
The University also offers a campus shuttle service, offering service to the off-campus housing areas to the south the Keele Campus. More information, such as routes, stops and schedules are available on the Off-Campus Shuttles page.
For convenient access to these services and more on campus safety, download the York U Safety App.
Nadal (Downtown) Campus
If you’ll be taking any of your MBA classes downtown, the Miles S. Nadal Management Centre is centrally located and very accessible by TTC. For location details, a map and directions, click below.
See you on campus very soon!
