This course prepares students to develop investment vehicles that address social and environmental challenges, equipping them for careers in the expanding field of impact investing. Unlike traditional finance, this course integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into investment strategies.
Students will engage in team projects, analyze real-world cases, and develop innovative financial solutions that generate positive impacts. The course emphasizes experiential learning through participation in the Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge (KMSSIC). This competition is integral to the course, offering practical experience in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world issues while enhancing teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills. Finalists will present their financing solutions at Morgan Stanley’s offices in London, England, or New York City, New York, with the locations alternating annually (the 2025 finals will be in London). Since the launch of this course, our Schulich team has been among the top 12 teams globally, making it to the finals in 2021 (Zoom), 2022 (London), and 2023 (New York).
