On Friday, January 28, Schulich School of Business will stage its 7th annual Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair, presented by York Sports Business Association. The Fair, which is the only event of its kind in Canada, will provide a great opportunity to explore careers with leading organizations in the creative industries. Companies will be answering questions and showcasing their workplace cultures, with many promoting a range of roles – from summer internships and entry level/new grad positions to leadership development program placements and volunteer opportunities.
Some of the companies that have participated in past editions include:
- Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Partnership (MLSE)
- adidas
- Toronto International Film Festival
- Tennis Canada
- Rogers Sports and Media
- Toronto Blue Jays
Positions available are expected to cover a range of functions including:
- Marketing
- Finance
- Accounting
- Sales & Business Development
- Analytics and Strategy
- Operations
- Human Resources
- Event Management
- Digital Media & Social Media
This year’s online edition will set a new record for total number of participating companies with over 40 expected to be present.
As well, like last year’s edition, professionals associations will participate providing information on supports available to help achieve career goals.
Ahead of the Fair, YSBA will hold on Thursday, January 20, at 5:30 p.m. a Workshop that will prepare attendees for optimizing their experience at the Fair. Attendees will learn what to expect from the event, how to approach companies, what questions to ask company officials, how to network virtually, how to follow up and network post-Fair, and insights into what recruiters seek in future employees.
The Fair is ideal for those interested in a career in the business side of sport, media and entertainment or are still exploring their career options and are curious to learn more about careers in the creative industries.
