Earlier, we announced some exciting new changes to the MBA Specialization in Sustainability and now we are pleased to share that the Graduate Diploma in Business and the Environment has undergone similar changes for the academic year 23/24.

The Graduate Diploma in Business and the Environment is open to MBA and MES students who wish to further develop their interest and knowledge in this field concurrently as they complete their degree.  The Diploma offers graduates of both programs the skills and tools needed to advance sustainability transitions in business in response to the climate and other environmental crises. This graduate diploma provides the perspectives, understanding, and recognition for York master’s graduates to become leaders in business and the environment.

Similar to completing a specialization in Sustainability, diploma seekers will complete 12 credit hours of required and elective courses with the one difference being that one of the required courses will be taken at the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change.  In addition to the course requirements, students pursuing the diploma must complete an internship or placement of at least 12 weeks (approximately 360 hours) at an organization or agency with a focus on business and the environment. The internship site must be pre-approved by the SSB and EUC Diploma Coordinators prior to the commencement of the internship.  MBA students are also required to conduct their MGMT 6100 3.00: Strategy Field Study with a business client that has a strong environmental focus to their core business. The 601 client must be pre-approved by the SSB Diploma Coordinator prior to the commencement of the 601 project.

Please contact SUST@schulich.yorku.ca to set up an appointment to indicate your interest in the Sustainability Specialization or for more information.  The diploma is a great way to expand your studies and set yourself apart in the job market.  Full details and course options can be found in the MBA Handbook and on the Sustainability Specialization webpage.

We are excited about the new course offerings this year and look forward to meeting you in class.  Find out more about the Sustainability Area on our LinkedIn page and save the date for a virtual information session in the Sustainability Area taking place on October 2nd from noon to 1:30 PM, more details to follow.
